On Thursday morning, April 26, Mrs. Mary A. Blake, died at the residence of her son, Mr. George E. Blake in this city of heart disease, 77 years 4 months. Deceased was born in Monroe county, this state; was the widow of WMC Blake, who preceded her to the grave, having died in 1896. Three children – George E. and James Blake and Mrs. AC Fry are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, Mrs. Blake was the last living member of her immediate family and it is a peculiar coincidence that her husband was also the last of his family at the time of his death. The funeral which was largely attended took place on Friday afternoon burial at Forest Hill cemetery. - transcribed by kbz

Mrs. Mary E. Blake died shortly after 12 o’clock Wednesday night at the residence of her son, GE Blake on east Franklin Street.  Mrs. Blake had been a sufferer for many years of lung trouble, gradually declining until death relieved her at the above mentioned hour. She was the relict of Capt WMC Blake in his day one of the leading citizens of Greencastle who died Jan 1, 1886.  Mrs. Blake was 77 years and 4 months old and was the mother of George E. Blake, James Blake and Mrs. AC Fry. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the family residence on east Franklin street, Dr. SB Town officiating. Friends of the family are invited to attend. - kbz
